If you are in New Zealand on a working holiday visa and you are able to show you have undertaken three months or more of seasonal work in the horticulture and viticulture industries during your working holiday, you may apply for the Working Holidaymaker Extension Visa. Successful applicants will be granted a work visa for an additional three months from the expiry date of their working holiday visa. The visa will have the same conditions as the original working holiday work visa, including travel conditions.

How do I apply?

If you think you are eligible, you should:

• fill in the SSE Work Visa Application (INZ 1153) PDF
• pay the correct fee
• attach evidence of your employment in the horticulture and viticulture industries, such as letters from your employers and Inland Revenue Department statements
• provide evidence you have an outward ticket, or sufficient funds to buy one
• send the application to the nearest Immigration New Zealand branch as this type of visa cannot be applied for online.

Note: Applicants for Working Holidaymaker Extension visas do not have to provide medical or X-ray certificates regardless of the duration of their stay in New Zealand, unless specifically asked for by an immigration officer.

Canadá; si, se puede. Enviar documentos a embajada en Chile. Los documentos faltantes que sólo se consiguen en Chile pueden ser presentados por un tercero debidamente autorizado.

Dinamarca; si, se puede. Acudir a la delegación diplomática Danesa más cercana.

Nueva Zelandia; si, se puede porque se postula a través de I-net.

Working Holiday (Canada)

You can apply for this program if you:

• are a Chilean national
• have a valid Chilean passport
• are between the ages of 18 and 35
• have a functional level of either English or French, or be enrolled in a language course either in Chile or in Canada
• are in possession of CAD$ 2,500 (or the equivalent in Chilean pesos) to cover initial living expenses
• are in possession of a ticket that includes your departure from Canada no more than one year from your arrival, or sufficient financial resources to be able to purchase such a ticket (approximately CLP$ 740,000)
• pay the program participation fee of CLP 75,000
• have health insurance for the duration of your stay in Canada
• are not planning to bring any dependents with you
• have no criminal record

How to apply:

You must submit:

1. An application form PDF * (221 KB) for a work permit, which is emitted in conjunction with a visa;
2. A Privacy Notice of Statement PDF * (63 KB); wich is only for your information but should be submitted with the application form;
3. A Declaration Form PDF * (52 KB)
4. Two passport-sized photographs PDF * (63 KB);
5. A Chilean passport that is valid for at least 24 months from the date of your application;
6. A family booklet or birth certificate  and/or previous passports, if you have any;
7. A recent record of your driving history;
8. A resumé (curriculum vitae), written in either English or French, listing what you have been doing since turning 18;
9. A police certificate from each country in which you have lived for more than six months since turning 18, including Chile;
10. A letter of motivation, written in either English or French, explaining your reasons for wanting to go to Canada as part of this program;
11. A letter of motivation, written in either English or French, confirming why you will leave Canada after a maximum of one year. We will also accept a letter in Spanish from your employer or your academic institution confirming that you will return to your place of employment or studies following your trip to Canada;
12. A bank statement from either your personal account or the account of an immediate family member (in the latter case, you must include your original birth certificate or your parents' family booklet)  showing that you have at least CAD$ 2,500 (or the equivalent in Chilean pesos) to cover your living expenses for the first three months of your stay, and a letter of commitment promising to maintain these funds for that specific use; 
13. A booked ticket or a reservation that has you departing Canada up to one year from your arrival, or a bank statement showing that you have sufficient funds to purchase such a ticket (approximately CLP$ 740,000);

14. An endorsable promissory note (un vale vista endosable in Spanish;note that vale vistas marked nominativo will not be accepted) from an accredited bank in Chile for CLP 75,000 to cover the Program Participation Fee; this fee covers all administrative costs associated with the program, including the emission of the visa. The endorsable promissory note should be payable to the Embassy of Canada, RUT: 69.900.900-8; 

    • WARNING: No form of payment other than that which is clearly indicated in the application instructions will be accepted. The Embassy will not accept any direct deposit made into any of the embassy’s bank accounts. If a direct deposit is made, the Embassy will reimburse the deposited money (which may delay processing of the application by up to three weeks), and the applicant must pay a penalty of CLP 7,000 to cover the administrative costs generated by the reimbursement. The applicant who does not respect the payment instructions will have to re-submit his or her application along with the required endorsable promissory note whose value must include both the regular cost of the Program Participation Fee (CLP 75,000) plus the additional CLP 7,000 administrative penalty mentioned above. 

15. A completed checklist showing that all the appropriate items are included in your application.

Note: In order to find a job in Canada, you need to be able to speak either French or English at a functional level. This means that you must be able to hold a basic conversation, understand instructions and answer basic questions. You are also obligated to have a social insurance number in order to be able to work in Canada, which you can obtain only once you have arrived in Canada.

There is no interview required as part of the application process. However, you may be requested to come to the embassy for an interview if judged necessary.

Once we receive your completed application, it will normally be processed within fifteen (15) working days. Applications that do not include all items on the checklist will not be processed and will be rejected; please refer to our reimbursement policy. An agent will communicate with you either by phone or email once your application has been processed, or if we have any follow-up questions (Please, do not call the embassy).

Please note that the deadline for applications is December 31st, 2009, or until there are no more permits available.
